What is a "professional" background

A professional background is a series of information that the visitor rarely completely sees, if the see it at all. However, their presence are usually one the reasons that they came to visit the site and may be one of the main reasons they return. A professional background is not that pretty little graphic that makes the site a little less dull or that really cool color that you may see behind the words. It is a series of statements that relate to the search, listing, browser, and channel definitions that make up the interplay of the Internet.

A web site that does not have a background is at a serious disadvantage compared to one that does. Less than 25-percent of all web sites have a background. Fewer yet have a professionally generated one. That is not very important if your business is AT&T, United Airlines, Nike, or Microsoft. They don't need a background on their web site pages much. These businesses are very well established throughout the world and people already expect them to have a site such as www.att.com, etc. However, if your business has less than 1,000 staff and doesn't do $10,000,000 in sales, you probably don't already have that kind of name recognition. You need a tool to get you name to your potential customer, and a background can be a key part of that effort for the Internet portion of your activities.
