What is a realm?

We offer services using many radius providers. When you signed up, we asked you how you planned to use your Internet connection. Based upon your answers we recommended a specific provider (called a realm). Below are some of the realms provided. Many use the same phone line systems, for some, only their rules change.

@world = this is the worldcom (sprint network) and has the most phone numbers throughout the world. If you travel a lot, this is the one we recommend. However, the provider limits your monthly usage to 150 hours per month (about 5 hours per day every day). If you use more than this in a month, service will go on hold until the und of the month.

@usa = this has one of the fastest systems and people often find they can double their effective access speed in some locations. However, they only serve major city areas. If you have one near you and do not travel much, this is the one for you. They limit monthly usage to 300 hours per month (about 10hours per day every day). If you use more than this in a month, service will go on hold until the und of the month.

@surf = this is an excellent service that has some of the benefits of @world and @usa both. Plus, if you are a heavy user, they only require that you do not use the connect more than 15 hours per day average. That means that if you use it all day one day and only 6 hour the next, you are OK. They only want to make sure you are not using it as a dedicated line. If you need a dedicated line, they provide that too, but it is more costly (@dedicated.surf).

@pop = this is a service provided for small towns and spasely populated areas that are underserved by the major realm systems. If you are in a small town with limited access, this is probably the system for you. Speeds are same as a major city, so you still get city quality. They limit monthly usage to 200 hours per month (about 10hours per day every day). If you use more than this in a month, service will go on hold until the und of the month.

@dual.realm = if you are an ISDN client, this is the realm you will be using as it is all digital. By the way, you can still use analog lines when you are not at your digital location, so you do not need to purchase a connection for home and work both. They limit monthly usage to 300 hours per month (about 10 hours per day every day). If you use more than this in a month, service will go on hold until the und of the month.
